Nokia Bell joins ZETA Alliance as Vice Chairman to Expand the LPWA Eco-system in China and beyond

Shanghai, September 22, 2020, Nokia Bell announced at the 3rd ZETA Alliance Day that the company has joined the ZETA Alliance as founder member while taking the position of Vice Chairman unit, which adds another leading companies from the telco industry to the LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) IoT ecosystem following the likes of China Mobile, NTT Docomo, SoftBank and NEC.
 
 
ZETA Alliance is a global technology alliance that aims to promote the ZETA LPWA standard for a wide range of IoT solutions based on the Advanced M-FSK modulation technology originally developed by ZiFiSense. The technology differentiates itself from the crowd in the market with a set of innovative wireless communication technologies that deliver the very low cost long range connectivity for the vision of “Disposable IoT”.
 
The ZETA Alliance has now attracted more than 300+ members worldwide, which include multinationals from related industry, including equipment manufacturers, semiconductor companies, connectivity module providers, IoT solution and service providers, etc.. gathering vital players across the end-to-end IoT value chain.
 
Nokia is leading the world in deploying faster and safer end-to-end 5G networks that can completely change lives, economies and society. Nokia Bell offers to the industry Nokia Global's end-to-end product line that comprehensively integrates networks, software and services to help users improve performance. 
 
By taking the position of Vice Chair of the Alliance, Nokia Bell will devote itself for development of the standard from chip-level algorithms to vertical solutions, and for the promotion of the ZETA standard globally, together with its 5G related vertical solutions.
 
Mr. Zhenyu Shao, General Manager, Nokia Bell Industry Solutions, Greater China, states that "The ZETA standard allows industry specific extension and technical innovations to support the specific requirements of different verticals, which is exactly what Nokia is good at. By complementing 5G with the ZETA IoT solutions, Nokia could deliver more comprehensive solutions, creating value for our clients while lowering cost, to the Greater China market and beyond. We have adopted ZETA technology in a number of Industrial IoT use cases such as digitalization of legacy meters in the factory environment. A lot more solutions where ZETA is needed are also in the pipeline. "

At the event, Nokia Bell and ZiFiSense held a signing ceremony. These two parties are planning to launch a "5G+ZETA" dual-mode gateway and to collaborate on development of communication software, network equipment and vertical solutions aiming to explore the opportunities presented by the digital transformation of various industries.
